To recognize that this list weekly, monthly, etc. .. not my thing. But today I owed it. It agglutinated which I think are the best albums that have been published between January and February 2012. They range from folk singer (Damien Jurado, Jack Savoretti, Matthew Perryman Jones) to alternative rock (Japandroids, Jack White, Blood Red Shoes), electrorock (Metric) or little quirks that will delight those with the most refined palate (Howth).
ALABAMA SHAKES - BOYS & GIRLS:
With
a race unfit for a new group like this, Alabama Shakes have combined
correctly soul and swamp rock emerged in the southern United States. The
key to safe hits as 'Hold On', 'You Is not Alone' (beautiful theme) and
'Be Mine' lies in the purity and spirit of the quartet emerged from
Athens to found his musical flag in the voice of a singer - Brittany Howard - that shines with personality. At
times sin to be somewhat linear sound but its formula, which is why, I
think that this "Boys & Girls" is just the tip of the iceberg of the
greatness of what lies ahead.Read our review of "Boys & Girls"
BEACH HOUSE - BLOOM
Catatonic atmospheres that knocked out the meaning and insight. White chiffon dresses. Houses on the beach. The calm after the intense heat wave in the middle of the day. The quiet of the night waiting to get his smooth black sky and the air refreshing goodness. Ten songs to renew and extend a proposal that would dignify the stylistic of the hottest season. Where not all plastic flip flops and bathing suits with flowers. With another summer Beach House is possible.

BLOOD RED SHOES - IN TIME TO VOICES:
With
a clean production and millimeter Laura and Steven have managed to
create a personality that has definitely moved away from the labeling
that stood as a mere group of "guitar-drums." There
is a crushing feeling, brutal and shocking in the single 'Cold', 'Stop
Kicking' or 'Je Me Perds' (fireworks go cut!) That is capable of
creating, by itself, true sandstorms.

Damien Jurado - MARAQOPA:
It
is entirely laudable see every couple of years enjoyed a record that
fully realized the expectations of what we expected of Mr. Jury. With "Caught By The Trees", for example, he did. And with "Saint Bartlett" also. I
think that we could not was that "Maraqopa," the second album produced
by Jury with Richard Swift, might become the beauty that is all folk
bowed to wood and stone, howling, crying and stands as the best that Jurado has made in recent years.

FATHER JOHN MISTY - FEAR FUN:
"Fear Fun" is a delight. That
folk so meticulous and transparent Joshua Tillman has peaked over the
past years has managed to merge with a rock vocation dirtier and
brighter than of yore. Hypnotically
"Funtimes in Babylon" get captivated from the start with a halo as
"western" we just convincing - at least temporarily - the current and
neglected look of the singer was born as a consequence and not as an
end.

FIRST AID KIT - LION'S ROAR:
It
seems that the Söderberg sisters have managed to go a step further when
a proposal to channel more personal and more proper to view "The Big
Black and The Blue" or "Drunken Trees EP". Their voices are entangled in a natural and spontaneous. The sound of the dirty and dusty acoustic guitar weaves seamlessly with the raucous slide guitar line. Everything
seems to occur seamlessly in the desert world of these girls who seem
to be born in the heart of Arizona instead of his native Enskede.
FUN. - SOME NIGHTS:
The second LP from Nate Ruess (formerly of The Format) is acojonantemente monumental. The
sound makes "Some Nights" makes it sound easy a very complex mixture
pass through the blender of hip hop, pop and sparkle worthy of Queen
indie pop art. The
two most pretentious album hits - the mammoth 'Some Nights' or first
single' We Are Young "in which collaborates Janelle Monáe - are the most
obvious reflection of the" clash "style which is the latest entry in
the protected Fueled By Ramen.

GOOD OLD WAR - COME BACK AS RAIN:
Something of this record I have, at least relatively, spellbound. Clearly this is an LP manners, yes. The
Philadelphia have continued with the good folk and distilled in their
previous two LPs - "Good Old War," "Only Way To Be Alone" - and that
seems to find its total hatching time of the "Come Back As Rain" that have real pearls of less than four minutes. One
is 'Amazing Eyes', the third song on the album which despite being very
sencillito has a delicious aura that makes him a special court.

HOWTH - Newkirk:
There are moments for everything. For a powerful indie rock reminiscent of Guster (that gay anthem entitled 'Only Right Turns "). For a pop of deep land bill that makes the feeling of Oliver Tank ('A Lie "). Or even for a piece that rescues the class and style that is festering in the melodies of the 60 ('Grand Marais'). Variety
is what characterizes an album, with 'Snowbank' spearhead (whiplash go
more addictive!) Reminds some of the great works of The Shins for a
compositional credit as immaculate.

Jack Savoretti - BEFORE THE STORM:
The
young composer now displays an impressive safety reaffirmed through a
band loudly seconded and it keeps him warm, caring and mimándolo even
the most intimate moments. If
old Jack was lost in the harshness of his compositions now enjoy a
treasured Savoretti sound more catchy and pop afrutadamente which finds
its highest expression in pieces like 'Not Worthy', 'Vagabond', 'Knock
Knock' and 'Take Me Home '.

JACK WHITE - blunderbuss:
No doubt "blunderbuss" has been one of the releases of the year. The best part? Jack
White has achieved with this solo album expectations that many fans of
The White Stripes and The Dead Weather had placed in him. There
are times for everything from the most frantically rock 'Sixteen
Saltines' to the minutes of pure melodic delight ('Love Interruption'). All
well-defined and framed in a remarkable LP will be playing over and
over again in the alternative rock fans more neat and noble.
Japandroids - ROCK CELEBRATION:
My thing with this album was love at first sight. And
you can not say anything an LP entitled "Celebration Rock" in which we
are just exactly that: rock alternative high degree Richter scale. The guitarrazos sound so ubiquitous, soil and burns our shoes without stopping jump. This
sounds 'Adrenaline Nightshift', 'Fire's Highway "or" Younger Us', where
you can see more clearly the spirit that punkero the Canadian duo. "Celebration Rock" is pure, and effervescence, rock for the times.
Matthew Perryman Jones - LAND OF THE LIVING:
"Until
The Dawn Appears" was not a bad album, but was far from the capacity
that Matthew had shown in "Swallow The Sea", probably his best work to
date. Fortunately
this lovely singer in this 2012 released an LP - "Land Of The Living" -
that resurfaced again this damaged soul that so many nights we had come
to thrill. With
'O Theo' (head one of the best songs of the year) and "Poisoning The
Well ', this latest album features a refined production, and
instrumentation that entangles the core sound beautifully sung by
Matthew.
METRIC - Synthetica:
The shift of sound that has come Metric "Synthetica" on "Fantasies" is not overwhelming, but if considerable. Of
those cyclical melodies power bases we have moved to more powerful
rhythm reminiscent of a hard and ripped version of beats explosive view
of "Supernature" by Goldfrapp. Is it more curious about it? This stage we are enjoying the peak of maturity of a band and began to war with its rhythms more "upbeat" in early 2001. The
first single 'Youth Without Youth' is a reflection of this new left
hook that since the absolute experience is propinando electrorock the
media training. Read our full review of "Synthetica"
The Neighbourhood - I'M SORRY ...:
The Cali quintet has found the right balance between hip hop and indie rock. Great
merit of this is organic paragraph have both the instrumental and the
work of frontman Jesse James Rutherford who can adapt like a chameleon
to noticeable changes in perceived rate at various times, mainly from
those exhibited at the future hit titled "Sweater Weather '. If you will touch the pop mainstream with a dressing to the hip hop you can not miss the opportunity to hear them. The idea that sticking strong to the end of 2012 is not far from an idea out of place. Talent these Americans have for a while.
NOW, NOW - THREADS:
Puberty
lived with "Cars" topped the end of his time teen with "Neighbors" and
now, with "Threads", we can say that Cacie, Bradley and Jess have
reached absolute maturity. Continue
flying an alternative rock emo cut (the similarities with Tegan &
Sara are more than logical) but Now, Now more than ever yours. Maybe
that's why they decided to shorten its name in the past, now the trio
is more dynamic, more vibrant and more nostalgic than ever. It
is these points combined, we do see in songs like 'School Friends' the
most peak of the career of these cute guys in Minneapolis.
RYAN MONROE - A PAINTING OF A PAINTING IN FIRE:
I
am surprised to see the ease with which this artist has been launched
to try to compose an album as complex, cool and well defined like this. Try
to hear and see the experience that is fun to listen to the melody of
ever-changing cuts like 'Turning Leaves Over' or the part that names the
compact. For no longer speak of the great vocal ability that is emerging in other songs like 'Blame The Daylight'. Not afraid to play the guitar, try using the keyboard, singing, tuning, acoustic pull ... This man does it all and well!.
Read our full review of "A Painting Of A Painting In Fire".
SHARON Van Etten - TRAMP:
I
still remember the time when Sharon Van Etten looked up at the main
stage at Primavera Sound 2012 and fearlessly said that this "was the
ugliest landscape had ever seen." The singer and guitarist is one of those that are not going with nonsense, you either love or hate. There is no middle. And
with "Tramp" of Brooklyn has managed to sign a record even more
complete than that "Epic" which enjoyed a couple of years ago. There are many little hidden gems on this LP. 'Leonard',
'Ask' or 'Serpents' are good examples of that world in which Van Etten
lyrics, melody and voice instrumental unity in a perfectly directed. Even
so we are left with the most dark and dense album, like 'In Line',
where Sharon discovered a sad and melancholy able to carve a few minutes
gently eternal.
SLEIGH BELLS - REIGN OF TERROR:
With "Treats" Sleigh Bells free up the international independent sector. Through
a highly electrifying tremor, the Brooklyn duo rose to fame by getting
to perform a hybrid of indie rock and hard rock as sugarcane. "Reign of Terror" is nothing more and nothing less than the logical sequel to this great album of 2010. The return of leather jackets, the whips and furtive glances. And
with great songs like 'Crush' or 'Demons' back to see us under the
character and Alexis Krauss liderazo a year by year becomes more and
more relentless.
ST. LUCIA - ST. LUCIA:
Just
need to give some listening to 'We Got It Wrong' to understand the
multi-instrumentalist from New York knows how to get to finger some of
the most critical moments of one of the greatest of the genre: M83. Jean
seems to have no limits: despite the riskiness of its proposal or
'Before The Dive' (born to be the greatest single of all EP) or 'Closer
Than This "are imperfect moments. And
mention should be 'All Eyes On You', an extremely addictive tribute to
the 80 that have a conspicuously inesperadísimo - sweet! - Jazz solo in
the end.
Read our full review of "St. Lucia ".
SUGAR & THE LOWS HI - HI SUGAR & THE LOWS:
The nine issues of "Sugar & The Hi Lows" have a special magic. And
the really funny thing is that retro style so distinctive and so soul
is born from the hearts of two artists who have always seemed to be
unequivocally linked to the current pop scene. Good campion was the Trent and Amy we have stuck to that effect!. From
the moment he starts to sound 'Show & Tell' the truth lies in that
classic style which refers to large and Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Al
Green and The Temptations, perhaps the most obvious reference this
delightful album.

Impression of Jakobidult 2011
Last Saturday, the Jakobidult (Sommerdult) on Mariahilfplatz with the "summer (at night) fixed" started. Until 08/05/2012 Dultgäste are invited join daily 10-22 clock for strolling, shopping, and spectator. The program ranges from presentations on tours to music, singing and dancing. The Jakobidult is in addition to the May Dult (Frühjahrsdult) and Kirchweihdult (Herbstdult) each one of the 9-day Dulten Munich, which take place all at Mariahilfplatz. About 300,000 people visit each year, the three Auer Dulten.
A trip to the Jakobidult is particularly worthwhile on Tuesday, 31.07.2012, on the last day of school before summer vacation, which is also the family day at the Jakobidult. The Showmen offer rides in their stores that day at a reduced price and hope to be able to attract as many young visitors to the Dult. But for all adults is Jakobidult like every year, an experience that you should take in any case, for a summer in Munich without a visitor at the Auer Dulten is no real summer. That would be like without the Oktoberfest in October! (Yes, we are aware that the Oktoberfest takes place mainly in September.) Speaking of which, in October 2012 is the Auer Dult triathlon in the last round, because at 20.10. the Herbstdult opened. Schonmal diary!
The name "Dult" has its original meaning in the way a church festival. During a feast was in honor of a saint by the Church mostly built up stalls to deliver goods. Over time the word changed its meaning, however slowly. From the church festival increasingly became a carnival who enjoyed spectacular attractions with its increasing popularity among the population. The Jakobidult was first mentioned in 1310, namely in the statute book of the city of Munich. She was back in Anger, instead of today's St. James Square. Hence the name "Jakobidult".
Come and visit Jakobidult during the period from 28.07. until 05.08.2012 at Mariahilfplatz in Munich.

Vibrating with "Octopus Kool Aid", the latest craze of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
There are few musical careers that are as prolific as that of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. The Puerto Rican, known for his work in The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In, has collaborated with countless artists. From Startled Calf, De Facto and The Butcherettes to Hour of the Monarchy, Coaxial or John Frusciante has been supported by guitarist / singer / songwriter. Not to mention the lengthy number of solo albums he has released, among which includes "Octopus Kool Aid," Omar's new album can be listened to and purchased from now through its official Bandcamp (see attached player at the end of this post).
Although published at the end of July of 2012, this LP was recorded and completed in February 2011. Mixing by Jon DeBaun and mastered by Pete Lyman, Omar is back in command of synthesizers, guitar lines, loops and sequences sound you hear in the album's songs. Is the difference with everything posted above? Vowels. Teri Gender Bender Butcherettes I was on this occasion the singer who has contributed his voice to the issues convoluted and labyrinthine half songs written by The Mars Volta.
What this man is scary. How soon will surprise us? How much new material is stored in its memory lane?

Jack White, live in Barcelona and Madrid
Attention to the great news that we read today on the ABC website: One of the most beloved guitarists of the last decade (Jack White) will come soon to Spain to live in society present his solo album "blunderbuss". These anticipated musical events take place on 1 September in Madrid (Sala La Riviera) and 2 September at the Sant Jordi Club room of the city. Tickets for both events will go on sale from Friday 20 July. We will soon publish the web where you can buy, and at what price.
None of us expected so great surprise. When most ardent fans of former The White Stripes began to think of approaching the UK to see him live, he goes and reveals this bombaza. Now that we have to do? Nothing, expect to July 20 with some eurillos in our stream and start listening like crazy the remarkable record that can be heard for some months through Spotify.
Yesterday we published the last frenetic music video 'Freedom At 21'. What will direct this behemoth of rock & roll? The answer will unfold in a matter of only six weeks.

Free and very good: Jazz by Special Quartet
When I was younger (yeah, I'm now at an age where I've used such formulations # musicmondayernsthaft completely, without even realizing it), I always looked after the "great art", it always had the best rock album of all time, the his best jazz album of all time, best classical album of all time. Underneath it was simply not in my claims. Disillusioned Accordingly, you then at some point: At some point, you know just his version of the best rock, jazz and classical albums, and you are on a search and decide for yourself that you have the "best album of all time" has long since found. Does that mean you can stop listening to new music, because you've already heard it all before and since has enabled music stand enhancement is not in the closet? Isteskuatsch of course, there's so much to discover, even if nothing is "unique" new or substantially connected. Sometimes the sound implementation of cherished traditions is more than enough., A 'little masterpiece', so to speak.
A good example of such a 'small masterpiece' is the debut album "Namouche" of Spanish Jazz Quartet Special Quartet. Without claiming the wheel (of jazz) reinvented to have to play the four musicians of the main cast Narciso González, Javier Alcantara, Pablo Romero and Pepin Muñoz and their guests Alexis Cuadrado , Perico Sambeat and Hugo Alves a good, relaxed and inspired urban jazz with unmistakable bonds of the great jazz bands of the 1960s by John Coltrane, Miles Davis and Charles Mingus.
The ten compositions seem to quote sometimes one or two classical pieces (plugged in "concept" not a bit of Coltrane's "Naima" theme?), Do it, but the entertainment factor of the album does not stop, because "Namouche" (the name of the studio where the pictures were taken) is quite independent enough and also a good example of how high-class jazz does not necessarily need big names in the United States must come and must be included in the 1960's. Sure, all this new right is not what you'll hear there, but it's still a lot of fun. God knows I've heard a lot weaker, duller commercial jazz albums with big names. The contrast here is really good, entertaining and a hint of jazz friends and supporters. And if the boys should ever play in the area, I would not hesitate to look at me.

The White Giant
Miller is a Big Mac. Although it measures just 1.70 meters, but on stage he is the White Giant. On Thursday evening, Miller was a guest at the Tonhalle in Munich, for the penultimate concert of its "Macadelic" tour in Germany.
But Miller is now even some of these rappers. Several mixtapes ("Best Day Ever", "Macadelic," "I Love Life, Thank You" and more), he has published, which can be found still available for free download on the Internet. Last year came his long awaited debut album "Blue Slide Park".A Best Of from all of his publications, he offered the not entirely sold-out concert hall in Munich, had been in the Edgar heats water as a pre-Act is already a lot. On stage is from this small, pot-smoking all-rounder a real stage hog. Surrounded by his two Spezln stage, a DJ, a cameraman and huge bass speakers as usual at the Tonhalle in fact were not providing the best sound, jumps, bounces, Miller raps and sings like an adult.
His articles are widely-until bland, sometimes breaking the beats dirty-südstaatlerisch in upon one, that the whole hall like crazy Cripwalken the beginning, sometimes they are rather smooth, almost jazzy with simpelverspielten piano, guitar or synth beats. Sometimes he completely avoids background noises and freestylt into the blue.
The hall celebrates everything that delivers just the 20-year-old. You are here because of him, each one, it shows. His lyrics can mitmurmeln almost everyone. Mac is no longer a debutant. But he is just too good and too precious to commercial in the pop business to play a role. They love him, even if the phases of Hall Middle finger pointing "Fuck You" roars forward. Subtly, he has since asked to forward ("Say Fuuuuuuuck Youuuu").
After an hour, that's the only thing you can accuse him of the show is over. It is time to assess just so hard when you're stoned to under the eyelids. Many of his songs, he played more quickly, some after he finished the first verse. But the audience was relatively unimportant. It was wet. Then the lights went on, the Beastie Boys screamed out, people screaming in the rain. And on the stage of small white Mac Miller disappeared after a big show in the fog.

"Mischief-pop" the magazine "Visions" once the thrilling, self-titled debut in the U.S. All-Amercian Rejects had called. About her latest creation, the fourth album, "Kids In The Street", one could say the same thing. The songs just so froth of positive energy. The documentary on the paternal side of punk icons
By November of last year we told you that was released in the U.S. "The Other F Word", a fun documentary that showed the paternal side of some of the icons in the world of punk and rock. Artists like Fat Mike (NOFX), Lars Frederiksen (Rancid), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle), Tim McIlrath (Rise Against), Duane Peters (U.S. Bombs) and Mark Hoppus (Blink-182 ) open the door of their homes to show how their lives changed when you start to live with their offspring. Now, thanks to an anonymous user, we can enjoy the documentary subtitled in Spanish on YouTube. To view it you only have to play the embed is in this post.
This is a film that can be enjoyed by all audiences. In the situations presented in "The Other F Word" caught my attention by Ron Reyes, second singer in the history of Black Flag had to leave the scene after starting a family. In his own words "violence of that scene made me have to withdraw." Logical, and watching the footage which sees the beloved Reyes stating that lived in a closet for 16 dollars a month.
Do not miss the documentary! The thing has substance.

Round One night in Paris with Chris Cornell
And it's time to comment on the Chris Cornell concert I lived in Paris last Friday. Perhaps many of you are somewhat surprised. "Why will not put it on [Chronic] in the title of the post?" - You must be wondering. The answer to this question is very simple: this is not a mere chronicle of lived experience in the French capital, is a totally subjective view of the concert more special than I have experienced in my 27 years of age. Because what I lived among the four walls of the legendary Le Trianon was so significant to me that I could not help play in an intimate and personal.
From the fifteen years I've imagined every year as it could be my perfect concert. When you ask me that question always came to the conclusion that it must be 1) a bolus of Chris Cornell 2) in an acoustic field and 3) in a mystical space and special. Magically these three points came together when I learned through my friend Iñaki that the leader of Soundgarden was to make a bolus of her "Songbook" in the renovated theater Le Trianon in Paris. He and I were quick to get tickets for and that led us to achieve the unimaginable: tickets for show in the middle size, and in the front row. The excitement has since blossomed to the point in my body than a month I was nervous, waiting for that big moment that would lead me to live on 22 June a sweet catharsis of feelings and emotions.
Then came the big day. Flight from Barcelona, arriving at the station of Antwerp and, after a rest at the hotel, played close to the number 80 boulevard de Rochechouart. Does the appearance of the premises? Awe.
The organization worked immaculately. We, after a minimal wait, get comfortable in our seats blessed. Within a few minutes took the stage Paul Freeman, a US-based Welch was going to interpret us some issues on several of its EPS, including the "Throwing Stones." By then our mind was only focused on Chris. And Paul finished playing, the lights went out and did the miracle. The angel appeared, El Salvador, the titan of titans. Chris Cornell was there in front of us shaking hands with everyone in the front rows of the theater. I stood almost motionless. They had broken the long distances that existed in the Soundgarden concert in 2007, or even in the show room of Cornell Vega (Copenhagen) 2007. Feet, was only two feet from me. And I felt like a lifelong friend. That's the feeling of "Songbook" that I had heard so much. And there was not a hoax.
Without much delay, the singer began with the passionate performance of 'A Scar On The Sky', an issue that directly improves a lot as heard in "Carry On". He then pulled so emotional repertoire 'As Hope and Promise Fades' or 'Wide Awake'. Also 'Ground Zero', one of the semi courts disposed of that failed "Scream". And it was when I felt I had to make one of my dreams. It came in the form of double-sided banner. In one of them showed two simple words: "Disappearing Act". For you may not mean anything, but for me they are a world of sensations that Chris had for years and years without exploring live. And Cornell saw my sign, stopped its pitch and immediately delivered a speech that came to me inside. I was going to play it. There, after so long without testing. "Probably the shit" - said the master of grunge. But he did, though he did not.
At the end of the subject sensed a presence on the left side of the stage. It was women, children and the mother of Chris, expectant, still second to second the interpretation of Chris. The family scene was most touching, especially as lived 'Finally Forever', the Seattle theme composed for his wife and he played in the Trianon looking into the eyes of the beautiful Vicky Cornell. This gave us great live good times, one of those was that in which Cornell played a vinyl with the instrumental sound of 'When I'm Down'. The version was kind of strange but fable rang and I proved once again that the voice of Cornell forties is perfect for these songs. Also shined version of 'Imagine' which was preceded by a funny comment at Cornell in which he stated that he was unable to whistle:
People bonded on site kept asking all kinds of issues Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog or "Euphoria Morning" or "Carry On". But Cornell was also the obligation (at least moral) to interpret a 'Scream' which gave us time for framing. That was the one who was to see Chris and his son playing in the background, doing air guitar. Present and future? in the same perspective. It was very curious scene.
After playing about 24 songs, and even invited on stage a couple of the public, Cornell left the stage to perform a single ba. That climax came in the forms sound of 'I Am The Highway', the perfect part-time in Audioslave released their eponymous debut album. It was at that moment, leaving me, I came to realize the significance it had for me all. He had lived a dream that even going to finish properly: with a double signing my vinyl Cornell "Songbook" and at the entrance of the concert.
Today it is June 27, and spent five long days of these incredible two-hour concert. Even so I have the strength to know that what I experienced at the Trianon'll remember forever. Wherever you go listen to Cornell closer to the microphone to the public to sing the first lines of 'When I'm Down'. And last in my mind that look that stuck in my banner, I hinted that this dream of listening to 'Disappearing Act' live was to be realized.
"Life is a dream, and dreams, dreams are." But well, with closed eyes and a wide smile on my face sketching, I love you be here forever. Thank you for Paris, Cornell. I will carry this with me forever.
